I'm proud to announce that today the House and Senate came together to send a bill to Governor Baker that would make thousands more unemployed workers eligible for $300 in additional unemployment assistance from the end of July and the beginning of September.

I

hope Governor Baker will honor the needs of people across the Commonwealth and sign this important piece of legislation into law.

At the end of last week, Governor Baker announced a $774 million plan to aid in the Commonwealth's recovery. While there is much more that must be done to support residents of the Commonwealth, this funding represents a meaningful step in the right direction.

The plan includes:

- $322.8 million in direct assistance for small and diverse local businesses for staffing, technical assistance, training, and outdoor commerce infrastructure

- $171 million for help streamline housing assistance through RAFT and provide more funds for assistance

-$100 million in additional funding for community development financial institutions

I was proud to nominate Karen Colón Hayes as a 2020 Massachusetts Latinx Trailblazer, and I'm so glad to see fellow Maldonian Gladys Rivera Rogers nominated by Senator Jason Lewis! Malden is so lucky to have these two incredible advocates fighting fighting for the Latinx community not only in Malden, but across the region, and across the Commonwealth
