During the ongoing budget debate, I was proud to stand with Mass Senior Action Council and sponsor Amendment #579 to expand access to the Medicare Savings Program to those with income up to 200% of the federal poverty line. While this amendment didn't make it into this year's budget, I can promise you this: our fight is not over.

Everyone deserves access to affordable health care, but our current system leaves out so many, particularly our senior citizens with fixed, low incomes. Rest assured, I will continue this fight to the support our seniors. All members of our community need to live healthy lives without worrying that a trip to the doctor's may mean they can't pay their rent or they may have to skip a meal.

I'm proud to have so many incredible colleagues with me in this fight, and would like to extend my deepest thanks to each and every Representative who signed on to sponsor this amendment. Your support in this fight is invaluable, and I look forward to working with you all next session to ensure our seniors have the access to affordable health care that every resident of our Commonwealth deserves.
